Personal History (OC/Malleable Protags): Nicollette had no clue what she was as she was growing up. Her mother Iona Abernethy, kept a lot of things hidden from her. She doesn't know her father's name, just that she was a Cajun man that she met while living in the Louisiana Bayou and that he died in a car crash before she was born. She was given a French first name to honor him.

As a child, the two of them moved around quite a bit as strange accidents seemed to happen when she got around water. A lot of younger children seemed to get hurt when she was in the water with them, but she didn't do anything to them. At least, nothing that she could actually remember. As far as she knew, everything was normal for her childhood. Money was a bit tight as Iona was a single mother trying to raise a baby around rural coastal Louisiana and Texas.

Things changed quite a bit for her when she turned 17. She had her first real relationship with someone. She didn't know how long it was going to last, but things were getting serious for them. Or at least as serious as anything could get for a pair of high school kids. Then the accident happened. It was a group trip to Galveston Island and Nicollette and her boyfriend decided to go for a late night swim. Once they got into the dark water, Nicollette changed for the first time, becoming something that appeared to be half-horse and half-fish with sharp teeth and a silver bridle.

When she saw her boyfriend in the water, something overcame her and she bit down on his arm and dragged him into deep water, causing him to drown and then began to eat his corpse. When she finally regained her senses, she swam out of the water, suddenly changing back into her "normal" self. She quickly dug through her things that were still on the beach until she found her phone. She called her mother in tears, not knowing what happened or what in the hell was going on.

She didn't know how long she sat on the beach, waiting for her mom to arrive. When Iona finally did, Nicollette demanded to know what was going on and why did she do that to someone she loved. Iona explained to her that she wasn't fully human and that she was half-Kelpie. Iona herself was a full Kelpie and that she had been around for a long time. Nicollette learned that her mother had been forced to come to the United States by someone who had managed to get ahold of her bridle and thus gained control of her. Iona had no choice but to obey. Sometime later, Iona managed to get free and kept herself hidden in the Louisiana Bayou until she met Nicollette's father.

When Nicollette was born, she thought that she was going to be fully human, as she didn't display any real powers like Iona had. The accidents were strange and she was unable to explain them, but Nicollette never changed shape until this night. Iona explained that she could never let anyone take off the silver chain that she now had on. Iona helped her daughter call the police and then hid in the water as Nicollette explained to the police a tailored version of what had happened that night.

That accident still sticks with her 20 years later. After graduating, Nicollette, now going by Nikki, did her best to stay with her mother and live a normal life, but personalities clashed and eventually Nikki moved out, choosing to go to the Texas coast to go to college and start over. Iona, wanting her to be able to survive, gave Nikki some money to invest and use to survive from day to day. When she was close to 30, Iona faked her death, which allowed Nikki to inherit another sizeable amount of money. With that money, Nikki invested in a small cattle ranch outside of Victoria, Texas. She doesn't keep a whole lot, but enough to stay afloat along with her investments.

She lived on her ranch, selling the cattle and eating the occasional one so that she didn't try to kill another human again.

Appearance: She's so cute...

Abilities: Superhuman Strength - Being half-Kelpie Nikki has inhuman strength. it's said that Kelpies have the strength of 10 horses, but she's not quite that strong. She might have the strength of maybe 5 horses? She's never really tested it out.

Transformation - Nikki has 2 other forms that she can take. One being that of a brown mustang mare with a silver bridle. Upon closer inspection, the bridle is a delicate looking silver chain made up of flowers instead of traditional links. It matches the necklace that she wears in her human form. Her second form is half-fish appearing more like this and is only used when she can swim in deep water.

Cooking - Nikki loves to cook for people. She's been cooking ever since she could reach the stove without standing on a stool. She will gladly cook a meal for people she cares for. She also loves to bake and makes some amazing cakes.


Inventory: Silver chain with no seen clasp. Nikki always has this necklace on. Taking it off forcefully changes her form to that of a brown mustang mare. The links are made up of small flowers and it doesn't appear to have a clasp at first glance. With enough searching it can be found, but she doesn't like people touching it. She's not even sure where it came from, it just appeared after she first changed when she was 17. It's magical in nature as it turns into a bridle when she is in her other forms. She also has her favorite leather coat to help keep herself warm as it was winter time when she was brought here.

❧ What event has had the biggest impact on your character? In what ways has it changed the way they see others and themselves?

The thing that had the biggest impact on her life was when she first changed at the age of 17. For the longest time she thought she was just a normal human girl, but on that night she found out that she was very different. She accidentally killed and partially ate her boyfriend at the time and it's taken her a lot of years to even try to get over it. Her relationship with her mother was shattered and she has kept her distance from everyone ever since. She's gotten to where she'll be around others, but she's usually pretty introverted.

While she might not mind being around others and helping out her neighbors, she's stayed away from any sort of romantic relationship since she doesn't want to relive the nightmare that happened 20 years ago. She doesn't want to risk accidentally hurting someone that she loves.


❧ What is your character’s biggest fear? How do they handle it?

Her biggest fear is hurting someone she loves again. Accidentally killing and partially eating your first lover is rather traumatic and she still hasn't gotten over it 20 years later. Well, she's moved on from it, but it still bothers her. This isn't the kind of thing that you can go to therapy for. If she did she might be institutionalized and she's not even going to risk that. She handles it by avoiding romantic relationships at all costs. She doesn't want to hurt someone on accident. She keeps to herself mostly, only opening up to a few people and doing her best to ignore anyone that might flirt with her.

Home for Nikki is the small ranch that she lives on in rural South Texas. She has a small amount of acreage outside of Victoria, Texas where she raises a few head of cattle and sells them off to help keep herself afloat. She also occasionally eats one so that she doesn't get the urge to try and go after a human. She doesn't leave for extended lengths of time as she has cattle to take care of and she doesn't want to have to hire more help to keep things running smoothly until she gets back. She might go into Galveston for a couple of nights for a change of scenery, but that's about it. She hasn't taken a long vacation in years.

The best bait for a trap for Nikki would be a nice place to swim. Nikki chose to live close to the Gulf Coast of Texas so that she could easily get to water and swim when she wanted. She might have to drive or run for a while to get to the coast but she's there quite often to swim. Kelpies are always found around water and she can't help that large bodies of water attract her like a magnet. She'll only go swimming once her chores are done for the day. All someone has to do is hide a very strong net in the water and wait. She'll eventually go swimming and it wouldn't take much to pull the net in and capture her. It's got to be a strong one, as she is likely to break a normal one.


❧ What is a secret about themselves that your character would never want to be revealed?

Nikki doesn't want people to know that she isn't human. She tries to keep displays of strength to a minimum, claiming that her work on her ranch has just made her stronger than any other women her size (she's all of 5'4"). She also doesn't want anyone to know that her necklace is the best way to control her. If it's taken from her, she is forced into her horse form and cannot change back. She will have no choice but to listen to the one who controls it. It was how her mother was captured and brought to the United States all those years ago. Anyone who realizes what she is would be able to figure out how to control her.

Nikki looked up from the hay she was about to put out. She could hear the roar of a motorcycle coming down the road. It was hard to mistake it for anything else. And it was coming closer.

She took her time making her way down to the main gate of the small parcel of land she called her own. The few acres she had were well maintained and a small farmhouse was set down a small dirt driveway.

A small barn was set towards the back of her land. There was nothing out of the ordinary for this small cattle ranch. Or at least it appeared that way. It's owner was a petite woman, with long dark hair pulled back out of her face. A delicate looking silver chain hung around her neck. The links looked like they had been made of small flowers.

"Howdy," she greeted, looking him over. "Anything I can help ya with?"

She was cautious. She knew of the hunters for hire that went after monsters. She noticed the swords he carried and she didn't want them used on her.

Personality: Nikki is friendly, but quiet. The accident that happened when she was 17 took a toll on her. She hasn't had a serious relationship in years because she didn't want to loose control and kill another lover. She's had the occasional one night stand, but nothing serious.

Unlike her mother, she has problems with her urge to drown and eat people. She actually enjoys being around others, but she's always afraid that she would do something that she would regret. This is why she owns a small cattle ranch. She'd rather eat one of her cows than a person. Cows can easily be replaced, but human lives can't.

Despite the fact that she isn't fully human, she's got manners. She'll use Sir and Ma'am to people that she respects and that she might not know. She'll also use terms of endearment like "Darlin'" and "Sugar" with friends and other people that she likes. She's not above cussing when she feels the need for it.

Nikki has a few hobbies outside of the ranch that she owns. She enjoys camping and dancing. While country music is her favorite, she enjoys a lot of other music as well. She'll go to clubs where things like EDM and techno are played as well as honkytonks that play country music and line dance with others.
Appearance: A headshot. She's all of 5'4" with long dark hair and eyes. She appears small and petite, but she's stronger than she appears.
How Do You Think They'll React to Being In Parthas? Incredibly confused to start, but then she'll realize that she's in a place where she doesn't have to hide what she is. She's not sure what to think about the gods or what she's really going to do, but she'll wing it the best that she can and put all of her skills and abilities to use here.

Anything Else? Nikki is half-Kelpie, meaning that she can turn into a horse when she wants. Her usual equine form is a brown mustang mare with a silver bridle with a floral design etched in it. That bridle becomes a delicate looking chain with the same floral design etched in it when she is human. If she goes in the water, she can turn into something half-fish, half horse and breathe just fine. Both equine forms have very sharp teeth.

She also has superhuman strength. Kelpies are said to have the strength of 10 horses. She hasn't tested out just how much she can pull/lift as both a horse and human, but she knows that she's a lot stronger than anyone her size or even bigger. Along with that strength comes inhuman stamina as well. She can run great distances as a horse, not quite as far as a human. She's also pretty quick, but can easily be caught by another horse.

If anyone manages to take off that silver bridle when she's a horse or the chain when human they'll have complete control over her. Also, as long as she isn't wearing it, she'll be forced to stay a horse.
